It’s hard to believe that it’s already been five months since Apple deeply integrated voice as a core part of the interface on the Apple iPhone 4S – and today Apple integrated dictation capabilities as part of the iPad 3 keypad. Consumers love voice as a natural and intuitive way to interact with devices – even those as powerful as the iPad and iPhone.
Nuance has made deep investments over the last decade to bring voice and language understanding to the forefront of the mobile experience across a range of devices, apps, cars and consumer electronics. In fact, Nuance’s Dragon Dictation for iPad app launched in 2010 and remains very popular, now available in 25 languages in 28 countries around the world.
Deeply integrated voice technologies will continue to have a profound impact across the mobile ecosystem. And it’s not simply voice recognition – it’s the combination of voice with the natural language-driven and mobile assistant technology innovations like Nuance’s Dragon Go! and Apple’s Siri that have reset the bar in what a consumer demands from their mobile experience. Be it a phone, tablet, car – and of course, the TV. Nuance’s Dragon TV platform has had an amazing reception since its launch in January, with voice-enabled televisions coming to market in 2012.
