Nuance respects the AAA and its recent study, and is working to better understand the methodology and technologies surveyed as part of the conclusions drawn in its report. We agree that driving distractions need to be minimized in an increasingly connected society and we continue to invest substantial resources toward this goal. Nuance Powers New Toyota G-BOOK Smartphone App in Japan

The connected car market continues to heat up, as Nuance announced that Dragon Drive is powering the voice capabilities behind Toyota’s new smart G-BOOK smartphone application, part of Toyota’s G-BOOK Telematics service in Japan. Dragon Drive’s Japanese voice recognition capabilities will be embedded by Toyota directly into the smart G-BOOK app, allowing users to seek out important information – such as directions and news – using natural voice input. For instance, people can say, “Find the nearest gas station,” “Looking for Italian restaurants open today,” “Find sports news,” and more. Last week Nuance announced that it will be integrating the acquired Tweddle Connect app and connected services platform into its Dragon Drive connected car offering – and we’re proud to announce that the Tweddle Connect platform has just received the “Best Telematics Content Aggregator Award” at the 2013 Telematics Update Awards. We’re just over a month into the release of Swype on Google Play, and so far we could not be more pleased with the reception: we just passed 500,000 downloads, we’re getting lots of great feature requests, and users around the world are helping our development teams narrow in on improvements and bug fixes.
