Hello again! Donni from the text input core team here. We’ve been cooking up another way to improve your mobile text experience that I’m pretty excited about. Since text you write on your phone isn’t always interpreted perfectly by Swype, we have been working on a feature to make it easier to go back and edit text you’ve written. The feature is called Smart Editor. It works by scanning back over text you’ve just written, looking for errors. If it finds anything suspicious, it will highlight it, and reorder the word choice list you’ll get when you reselect it. Swype Insights – Dictionary Feature Spotlight

Hello there! I’m Donni, a Technical Program Manager at Nuance. I work with the text input core (non-UI features) and linguistics engineering teams. Basically the ladies and gents who make the Swype core algorithms and functions work for 80+ languages and on any device, not just the Android OS. For many users, one of the most irritating things about writing messages on a phone can be what happens when you are trying to enter words that the dictionary doesn’t know. If the phone doesn’t do a good job of distinguishing between new words and errors, a correction might overwrite text you had written correctly.
