Features
Swype Is Easy
It’s Fast
Swype can be used equally well with either a stylus or fingertip. When Swyping the smooth motion of gliding from letter to letter feels very natural.
It's Familiar
Swype uses the QWERTY keyboard layout and standard national variants, so there is virtually no learning curve.
It's Intuitive
Users can go fast and be sloppy—there's no need to try to accurately hit each key. If you make a reasonable effort to trace or tap the word, Swype will do the rest.
Swype Is Smart
Automatic Spacing and Capitalization
Swype automatically enter spaces and capitalizations when appropriate for increased speed.
Spelling Correction
Not only can users go fast and be sloppy, in most typical cases, Swype will even correct misspelled words. For example, when tracing out "freind", Swype will automatically generate "friend".
Personal Dictionary
Chances are a desired word is already in the Swype dictionary. But if it isn't, users can easily enter custom words into Swype's personal dictionary. The latest versions of Swype gives users full control over their personal dictionary via Swype Settings.
But Wait, There’s More
Accented Characters
Words with accented characters ("diacritics") require no special action - just Swype the word and the correct spelling will be entered. New words with accented characters can by typed by press-holding on a key to see all available variations.
Over 50 Symbols
Most common symbols are on the main keyboard layer and can be quickly entered by press-holding on a key to access secondary characters. Many other symbols are readily accessible from Swype's symbol layers.
Gestures
We support and continue to add more and more keyboard shortcuts and gestures, including common editing shortcuts accessed by tracing from the Swype key to the "a", "c", "x" or "v" keys.
